History, memory, and art in the present moment Opening January 31 at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, Selma Is Now is a powerful photographic exhibition that brings history into the present. As Broward County celebrates 50 years of arts and culture in 2026, this exhibition invites reflection on art’s enduring role in bearing witness, preserving memory, and shaping collective understanding. Featuring iconic images by photographer Spider Martin, the exhibition honors the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement and its continued relevance today. The exhibition will be on view through June 27. The exhibition opens Saturday, January 31, with a 3:30 PM conversation, Selma Is Now – Legacy, Lens, and Liberation, featuring collector Doug McCraw and equity strategist and activist Chevara Orrin, daughter of Selma march architect James Bevel.
